Frontlines is a youth centre for children and youth in Weston and surrounding communities. For our March break and summer camps, the camp is open to all across the GTA

  1. Summer Camp Sports Coordinator

Title: Sports Coordinator                             Position Start Date: ASAP

Type: Part- time (30 hours per week)          Positions available: 2

Reports to: Summer Camp Coordinator, Director

Wage: $12.40/hour

 

As Sports Coordinator, you will be responsible for the successful oversight and implementation of the Frontlines Summer Camp Sports Programs. Under your leadership, our summer camp will:

  1. Incorporate themes of Community Leadership into daily programming with an emphasis on sports and fitness, and arts & crafts activities
  2. Host “Summer Camp Community Engagement Events” which include celebrations with music, food, dance, arts and sports

Key responsibilities include:

–      Design and implement summer sports program including sports clinics, fitness education, 3on3 basketball tournaments, and introduction to different sports

–      Build relationships with children in order to mentor, provide positive role modeling and spiritual guidance

–      Assist with special activities and events (i.e. fundraisers) including Summer Olympics focusing on Canada 150.

–      One Sports Coordinator will be assigned specifically to facilitate the basketball camp

–      Attend all staff meetings and training

–      Discuss all program plans with Summer Camp Coordinator

–      Provide support and direction to program assistants, camp councillors, placement students and volunteers as needed

–      Coordinate maintenance of equipment, sports budget, and the evaluation of programs on an on-going basis

–      Prepare promotional materials and conduct outreach within the community

–      Incorporate aspects of spirituality and biblical teachings into camp program structure

–      Maintain a safe, fun and uplifting working environment

–      Maintain and submit accurate weekly financial records to Summer Camp Coordinator

–      Ensure that all facilities are kept in a clean and respectable manner for the duration of the camp including the gym area

–      Remain flexible

Skills and Qualifications:

–      Demonstrated experience of excellence in program implementation, planning, documentation and evaluation

–      Demonstrated experience working with children and youth with an emphasis on at-risk communities

–      Demonstrated experience working in multi-ethnic, high-density, urban communities

–      Demonstrated strong leadership skills

–      Valid Driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract and access to a vehicle is an asset

Education:

–      At least 2nd year engagement in Child and Youth Worker, Social Work, Recreation Management or related fields certificate, or health related fields (diploma or degree preferred)

Conditions of Employment:

The successful candidate must provide a police reference check clearance (vulnerable sector)

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

o   be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;

o   must have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;

2. Summer Camp Coordinator Job Description

  2. Host “Summer Camp Community Engagement Events” which include celebrations with music, food, dance, arts and sports

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement summer camp programs including aspects of nutrition, education, arts & crafts, sports and fitness
  • Develop staff training agenda and curriculum
  • Provide support and direction to program assistants, camp councillors, placement students and volunteers
  • Evaluate and offer feedback to staff/team members (as needed)
  • Plan and organize day-trips with the assistance of an Assistant Camp Coordinator and several program staff
  • Coordinate maintenance of attendance records, camp budget, evaluation of programs, trip forms and moneys on an on-going basis
  • Plan and assist with special activities and fundraising events
  • Prepare promotional materials, permission forms and weekly parent newsletter
  • Supervise and maintain a safe learning environment
  • Build relationships with youth and children in order to mentor and provide positive role modeling at all levels
  • Incorporate aspects of spirituality and biblical teachings into camp program structure

As a Summer Camp Assistant, you will be responsible for the successful oversight and implementation of the Frontlines Summer Camp Program. Under your leadership, our summer camp will:

  1. Incorporate themes of Community Leadership into daily programming with an emphasis on sports and fitness, and arts & crafts activities
  2. Host “Summer Camp Community Engagement Events” which include celebrations with music, food, dance, arts and sports

Key responsibilities include:

  • Help design and implement summer camp program which includes education, art and fitness components, plan and organize day trips.
  • Provide support to Summer Program Coordinator in giving direction to program assistants.
  • Support the day to day instruction and management of program facilitators, providing feedback, evaluations and direction.
  • Help coordinate maintenance of attendance records, payments, receipts, evaluation of programs on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist with special activities and events (i.e. fundraisers).
  • Help prepare promotional material.
  • Help provide direction to volunteers and include them in strong learning opportunities
  • Supervise and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Build relationships with youth in order to mentor youth, provide positive role modeling to youth and junior staff.
  • Coordinate with program assistants.
  • Assist with all other Frontlines’ summer programming as directed by the Senior Programs Coordinator and report to Summer Program Coordinator.

As Summer Camp Facilitator, you will be responsible for the successful oversight and implementation

of the Frontlines Summer Camp Programs. Under your leadership, our summer camp will:

2. Host “Summer Camp Community Engagement Events” which include celebrations with music,

– Assist camp coordinator/program assistant in the design and implementation of the summer

camp program including education, art and fitness components

– Plan and organize day trips

– Assist Camp Coordinator in maintaining attendance records, participate in evaluation process

– Assist with special activities and events (i.e. fundraisers)

– Work alongside volunteers and prepare promotional materials

– Supervise and maintain a safe learning environment

– Build relationships with youth in order to mentor youth, provide role modeling to youth

– and junior staff

– Coordinate with program coordinators, placement students and volunteers

– Assist with all other Frontlines' summer programming as directed by the Camp Coordinator

As an Outreach Specialist, you will be responsible for the successful oversight and implementation of the Frontlines Summer Camp Program. Under your leadership, our summer camp will:

  1. Incorporate themes of Community Leadership into daily programming with an emphasis on sports and fitness, and arts & crafts activities
  2. Host “Summer Camp Community Engagement Events” which include celebrations with music, food, dance, arts and sports

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop outreach materials and communication including summer newsletters, social media @frontlinesto ,
  • Communicate with local media
  • Recruitment of children and youth for the summer programs
  • Outreach for special events including those related to the Canada’s 150 celebrations Assist children and youth with social issues by connecting them and their families to resources
  • Assist with special activities and events (i.e. fundraisers).
  • Help provide direction to volunteers and include them in strong learning opportunities
  • Supervise and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Build relationships with youth provide positive role modeling to youth and junior staff.
  • Coordinate with program assistants.
  • Assist with all other Frontlines’ summer programming as directed by the Senior Programs Coordinator and report to Summer Program Coordinator.
  • Remain flexible

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience of excellence in community engagement and outreach
  • Demonstrated experience working in multi-ethnic, high-density, urban communities

  • At least 2nd year engagement in Marketing, Community Development, Journalism and other related fields (diploma or degree preferred)
